I found the easiest way to test if the controller works is by opening steam and turning on "big picture". You should see a connected device called "Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows"
On your PC select Start, then Settings > Devices > Connected devices Windows 10 Verify Xbxo Wireless Adapter is recognized (if you have an adapter)

I suggest doing the same steps and running a windows update just to make sure there isn't a new driver update available. If you have windows 10 the driver is supposed to be already installed. If the driver is not installed it should be found during the update. The reason for this is that Windows 7 and 8 do not come with a pre-installed driver for the controller. If you are using Windows 7, or 8 I suggest plugging in your controller, turning it on, and then running a windows update on your pc. My xbox One controller is wireless and I use the xbox adapter to connect it on my Windows 10 pc. But again, Linearity is what's going to make it easier to make subtle inputs.It may be that the driver is not installed or if it is a wireless controller, a sync issue between the bluetooth/wireless adapter and the controller. As you unlock Tuning options, I suppose you can change the braking force there to overcome this, but I find I almost never need to reach 100% braking power anyway, so this just makes it easier to avoid that.Īs you get better and better at making smoother, more subtle movements, you can turn the sensitivity back up to 100. The braking saturation just means it's a little less sensitive and twitchy, making it easier to brake without fully locking the wheels and getting massive understeer.
